Season chronology |
The second season of Tawag ng Tanghalan: All-Star Grand Resbak, titled as Tawag ng Tanghalan: All-Star Grand Resbak 2025, was a special edition of Tawag ng Tanghalan that aired as a segment of the noontime show It's Showtime. The season ran from March 10 to April 26, 2025.[1][2][3]
This season marks the special edition's return after a five-year hiatus following its debut in 2019.
Marko Rudio of Team Agimat was crowned the winner of the season. Ian Manibale of Team Alab was the runner-up, making him the second TNT Finalist to become a runner-up and the third overall to re-enter the Top 3 twice after John Mark Saga and JM Dela Cerna respectively (both from season 3 and Duets), while Charizze Arnigo of Team Agimat finished in third place.[4][5]
Development
[edit]The season was first announced on March 6, 2025, and a media conference was held the same day at ABS-CBN Studio 3. Lorraine Galvez and Anthony Castillo, season 5 grand finalists and hosts of Showtime Online Ü, hosted the mediacon. Present in the mediacon were the 48 returning contenders, along with judges Jed Madela, Karylle, Ogie Alcasid, and Louie Ocampo.[6]
Production
[edit]The second Grand Resbak season aired on March 10, 2025, less than two months after the finale of The School Showdown. This is the first all-star season to air on A2Z, All TV and GMA Network, and the eighth, second, and the third overall seasons to air respectively following the cease-and-desist order against ABS-CBN's free-to-air assets last May 5, 2020. The season took a production break from April 14 to 19, 2025, due to Holy Week. Production resumed on April 21, 2025.
Host and judges
[edit]Vhong Navarro, Vice Ganda, Amy Perez, Jhong Hilario, and Karylle reprised their hosting roles for this season, with Kim Chiu, Darren Espanto, and Ogie Alcasid were additionally hosts for this edition. Meanwhile, Ryan Bang, Ion Perez, and Teddy Corpuz reprised their roles as gongmasters for the season.
Bela Padilla, Jugs Jugueta, MC Muah Calaquian, Lassy Marquez and Jackie Gonzaga served as guest co-hosts in the absence of the main hosts.
Judges Zsa Zsa Padilla, Nyoy Volante, Nonoy Zuñiga, Bituin Escalante, Marco Sison, Erik Santos, Dingdong Avanzado and Jed Madela reprised their judging roles to the panel, along with head judge or punong hurado Louie Ocampo, and Ogie Alcasid as subtitute when Ocampo is absent. Padilla and Zuñiga serve also as a head judge when both Ocampo and Alcasid are absent. Pops Fernandez, Lani Misalucha, and Regine Velasquez were revealed as the new judges for the series this season.[7][8][9][10] Stell and Pablo of P-pop group SB19 served as guest judges for the finale.[11]
Format
[edit]For the first two rounds, members from each group will perform daily, and the contender with the highest percentage will earn a point for their team. Each group aims to accumulate as many points as possible within the two-week period. The top three groups with the highest points will advance to the second round. This means that all members of the lowest-ranked group will be eliminated, leaving the other groups to compete in the next round. In the event of a tie in scores on the final day, the tied groups will face off again with a representative to determine who will advance to the next round. For the third round, members from the same group will face off against each other for fourteen spots at the week-long finals.
Meanwhile, the criteria for judging are as follows:
- Tone Quality — 40%
- Voice Projection and Technique — 30%
- Intonation and Enunciation — 30%
Prizes
[edit]The resbaker who gets the highest score during the daily rounds will receive an additional prize of ₱20,000. The Grand Resbak Champion is set to receive a cash prize of ₱1,000,000, as well as a new TNT Trophy.
Grand Resbak contenders
[edit]The competition featured forty-eight returning contenders, also known as grand resbakers on the show.[1][12] This is the first all-star season to include returning Kids contenders from both the first and second seasons since Duets. It is notable that no Celebrity Champions contenders returned this season, and four resbakers that participated in the previous season also returned to re-compete.
To avoid confusion and ensure uniformity, contenders who switched teams will be listed in the teams to which they belong. This is especially true for Arvery Love Lagoring, who was originally assigned to Team Amihan but was reassigned twice: first to Team Alon due to Marco Adobas' disqualification during Round 2, and then to Team Alab after being saved by the judges and chosen by Eich Abando to be on their team at the end of Round 2. The teams to which they were re-assigned will also be labeled.

Round 1
[edit]The first round, called the Daily Rounds or alternatively known as the Four-Way Face-Off, saw one member from each group performing their assigned song, the order in which teams and their representatives perform will be determined randomly. From Days 1 to 4 and 12, the performances were divided into two parts; in the first part, the first two selected contenders will perform, followed by the last two. Starting from Day 5 until 11, the entire sequence was determined at once. The hosts will choose the team that performs first, and the representative will be chosen by the representative from the day before (the hosts chose the first representation on the first day).
The contender with the highest score wins that day's round and earns one point for their group, which will accumulate over the two-week period. This means there will be no eliminations until the end of the week. After this round, only the groups with the highest total points will advance to the next round, while one group will be eliminated from the competition, regardless on whether any of them have daily winners. Those that lost in this round are isolated in another studio and may be given the opportunity to perform again. The daily winner receives a cash prize of ₱20,000.
Round 1 Summary
[edit]Because there was a tie for third place (Agimat and Amihan both had two points), a tie-breaker round titled "Ultimate PangkaTapatan" was held, in which the two tied groups faced off against each other to determine which group would advance to the next round. Each group must choose another representative (whether that representative won or not), and their performance order was determined at random. The two representatives had two options for their piece: sing another song of their choosing or use the song they performed on their first attempt.[15]
At the end of the tie-breaker round, another twist was revealed: the judges decided that only three of Team Amihan's members were qualified to move on to the next round, and each of them would be placed to a different group, leaving the other nine (now eight) eliminated. The selection method consisted of one representative from each of the other three groups picking a judge's name from a fishbowl, with the chosen judge selecting a member from Team Amihan who would then go to the group from which they were chosen.

Round 2
[edit]The second round, known as the Three-Way Face-Off, follows the same mechanics as the previous round but with only three performers instead of four. One representative from each group performs a song, with performance order determined randomly. The hosts select the first performing team, while the previous day's representative picks the next performer (except on the first day when the hosts choose). Since each group now has 13 members, an additional round was held on the eleventh day. Also, because all three groups had received four points each by the end of the eleventh day, another tiebreaker round will be held to determine the second group that will advance in the competition.
The highest-scoring contender wins the round, earning one point for their group. Scores accumulate over two weeks, with no eliminations until the end of the period. Only the two groups with the highest total points advance, while one group is eliminated regardless of individual daily wins. Eliminated groups are isolated in another studio and may get a chance to perform again. Still, each daily winner receives a ₱20,000 cash prize.
Round 2 Summary
[edit]After the announcement of the winner of the second Ultimate PangkaTapatan, the hosts revealed that two members from the eliminated Team Alon would be transferred to the two remaining groups, with one member joining each group. However, the selected members were not chosen by the judges alone; they were picked by representatives of the remaining groups through a fishbowl. This resulted in both remaining groups having 14 members each at the start of the next round.[20]

The Final Comeback
[edit]The wildcard round, titled "The Final Comeback", was announced at the end of the third round on April 12, 2025. The thirty-three eliminated contenders from the previous rounds were given one last chance to return to the competition, this time as grand finalists. It was revealed that only eight of them would be brought back—four selected by the judges and four by public vote. Public voting commenced at the end of the episode and lasted until Monday, April 14, at 12:00 noon.[22] The results were announced on Monday, April 21, as the season went on break due to Holy Week.
The wildcard round was aired from April 21 and 22, 2025. The eight contenders competed for four spots in the grand finals.
To vote, viewers must visit the joinnow.ph website and log in using their Google account. Each Google account is entitled to four votes, which may either be given entirely to one contender or distributed among several contenders.
Below is the final result of the decision made by the judges and the public.
