Kinney Impregnated One of His Slaves

I have reason to believe that William Kinney Sr. impregnated his female slave, Simahy. She gave birth to a son on 1 Jan 1835 and named him Abraham. After William died on 1 Oct 1843, Simahy and Abraham stayed with Williams wife, Mary Husk-Kinney. In the 1850 federal census for St. Clair County, Illinois, it shows Simahy and Abraham still living with Mary and they give their last names as "Kinney".
