West of England Mayoral Combined Authority - not a legal change of name
[edit]The recent partial change on the WECA website to use "West of England Mayoral Combined Authority" seems a branding/presentation change and it seems the legal name is unchanged. I don't think we should switch to using this name until it is a legal change, other than a brief mention. Even on WECA webpages that use this "new" name it still says "(c) 2025 West of England Combined Authority" at the bottom! And if you look at the current version of SI 2017/126 PART 2 Article 3 that legally establishes WECA it still says "(2) The combined authority is to be known as the West of England Combined Authority." - NB looking at the WEMCA image at the top of the WECA website logo.svg, it's HTTP last modified date is "18 December 2024, 07:08:48", so this looks likely this change is one of the last acts of Dan Norris as mayor. I wonder if it will be retained by the new mayor? Rwendland (talk) 22:02, 5 May 2025 (UTC)
