Hi, I'm Brooke and I work for Walmart. I'd like to suggest an update to the Introduction based on our 2025 Annual report. Can we change "As of October 31, 2022, Walmart has 10,586 stores and clubs in 24 countries" to "As of January 31, 2025, Walmart has 10,750 stores and clubs in 19 countries"? I would rather not update the article myself due to my conflict of interest. Cheers, Brooke BG at Walmart (talk) 18:18, 10 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@BG at Walmart I removed it from the lead because it becomes dated quickly and generally the lead should be stable. Also, in the future, please use secondaryindependent sources. What Walmart says about itself it not as important as what other reliable source say about the company.. S0091 (talk) 18:46, 10 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi editors, I noticed a slight error with the nature of Walmart's relationship with Asda. Walmart sold Asda to the Issa brothers in 2020, with the sale being finalized in February 2021 per Reuters. I noticed a couple spots in the article where it makes it seem like Asda is still owned by Walmart:
In the Introduction:
"Walmart's investments outside the U.S. have seen mixed results. Its operations and subsidiaries in Canada, the United Kingdom (ASDA)"
"On October 2, 2020, it was announced that Walmart will sell a majority stake of Asda to a consortium of Zuber and Mohsin Issa (the owners of EG Group) and private equity firm TDR Capital for £6.8bn, pending approval from the Competition and Markets Authority."
The sale was approved in February 2021, per the Reuters article linked above, can this be updated to reflect that?
"Based in San Bruno, California, Walmart's Global eCommerce division provides online retailing for Walmart, Sam's Club, Asda, and all other international brands."
