Misleading sentence?

I found the following sentence confusing:

"At the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th centuries, the German government militated against the university, which remained unpopular until recent times."

What was unpopular--the German government's actions or the university itself?

I deleted the whole paragraph, which was virtually unintelligible; for one thing, there was no "German government" at the time. Languagehat (talk) 15:12, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

Use of Britannica

I do not like including the facts and figures from Britannica 1911 here. The 1905 numbers are neither of relevance to the standing the FSU has today nor does it represent an important part of history. That the anatomical institute was well equipped then does not mean it still is. The library includes more than 200,000 volumes now, the current number is about 3,500,000. --Gunnar Hendrich (talk) 17:18, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

Renaming

It seems quite surprising that the German government should have celebrated Schiller, a liberal and a writer, in 1934; is this a corruption of 1954? In any case, the date, whatever it is, should be sourced. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 15:29, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

New Corporate Design of the University

The University of Jena recently changed their Corporate Design, which include a change in logo and motto (Light, Life, Liberty – Connecting Visions). This should be amended in the article. Also I don't know if there is any point to it, but the University has a Facebook, Instagram and Twitter now. Should they be linked? Jan Sende (talk) 21:06, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
