Red Dolphins
[edit]I just learned that the enlisted and officers of USS New Jersey wear red dolphins instead of gold or silver dolphins and refer to the ship as the "Devil Fish." I'm not sure that it is worthy of being in the article as it's closer to trivia than encyclopedic information, but I figured it should at least be noted on the talk page. — Jkudlick ⚓ (talk) 01:50, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
- @5:31 in the video, he reads from a documemt that states: "
...each crew member will be given a set of "devil fish"
[red dolphins]to be worn at naval ceremonies and functions, attended by New Jersey
". So it sounds like this is not something that is authorized to be word on their uniforms while on regular duty. Just the same, this is interesting and would be a worthwhile item to note in this article, (the USS New Jersey BB articles also?) and perhaps the Submarine Warfare insignia article as well. It would be nice to have, along with the youtube video, an additional, reliable source to attach as a ref, if one csn be can found.
