An edit

[edit]

I know this edit has been reverted (by all appearances), but all of the personal life before that removal was and is very well sourced in this article, and largely based on interviews conducted with him. -Mardus /talk 03:03, 23 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It is very clear that many agressive editors try to delete all claims that Tomas Tammemets is Estonian with mixed roots, trying to add fake "references" that are only written in russian. I'm Estonian and I know English, Russian, Estonian, all of them, and I can say, this vandalism is just so unfortunate. All the information is in older references. My best guess is that claiming he is Russian (which is wrong!)... Well, political situation is like it is right now. Muruhaldjas (talk) 06:35, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Russian identity

[edit]

Just checking the sources ---- Tomas Tammemets a.k.a. Tommy Cash has said in interviews he considers self a Russian, but noboby ever mentioned what passport he carries (or what health problems he had, or how come Tomas never did military service in Estonia).80.232.171.128 (talk) 08:52, 23 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

He has said it in old interviews, which have been deemed inaccurate and outdated by the sources themselves. All that we know and that is relevant at the moment, is that the person in question is an Estonian rapper/artist from Tallinn, Estonia. And it’s all that matters and should matter. 2001:7D0:82DF:8A80:B029:F6FF:6784:D1BC (talk) 19:57, 25 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Identity issues, false claims, mixed ancestry, unknown citizenship

[edit]

I looked at the history of this article, and it seems to me that some anonymous editors are consistently trying to make false claims that are clearly politically motivated. They use no references or pretend that these false claims are interviews in Russian, probably because it is harder for an English-speaking international audience to understand. This also makes them harder to falsify. There are plenty of interviews available in English. As for his national roots, multilingual childhood, inspiration from his direct environment, and influence from famous American rappers rapping in English, as well as listening to music from artists around the world – these topics have been a consistent thread in almost all interviews. I hope that no one erases this paragraph I tried to correct, nor adds silly statements, falsely, like "he thinks of himself as Russian," "he is Russian," or "he identifies as..."(something simplistic) "he identifies himself as a bad singer") etc. etc. Muruhaldjas (talk) 09:41, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Relax, TommyC usually admits in Russian-language interviews that he is Russian, whereas in Estonian-language interviews TommyC has never claimed to be Estonian (as his noticable Russian accent would make such claim quite dubious). Of course, TommyC has given a lot of interviews in English as well, and provided all sorts of contradictory statements about his family's "national roots" (and never a single word about his citizenship). TommyC has created this confusion quite intentionally, please have a read about this (article is in English): "Produced by some chemical waste and cum": TOMM¥ €A$H and His Concept of Signifying "post-Sovietness" by M.
