The Y (disambiguation) → The Y – Per RTODAB and NOPRIMARY; there's no point in this disambig page using an identifier when "The Y" is simply a redirect to Y (disambiguation). Several users have in the past attempted to change the target of the aforementioned redirect to YMCA without discussion, only to be reverted every time. ToThAc (talk) 23:04, 9 February 2025 (UTC)
- Support. Both disambiguation pages clearly show that "Y" and "The Y" are different concepts. And "YMCA" is by no means a primary topic for "The Y". JIP | Talk 08:03, 10 February 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose, and start an RFD at The Y instead. 162 etc. (talk) 10:02, 10 February 2025 (UTC)

- I don't know why this was referred to RM. The real question is whether The Y should be a primary redirect. If it is not, then moving The Y (disambiguation) to The Y becomes an uncontroversial technical request. 162 etc. (talk) 17:29, 10 February 2025 (UTC)
- @162 etc.: I started an RM just because there was a chance that a user might want the target page to point to YMCA instead. And it would be wise if you contacted the users who deferred me to RM instead if you disagree with their assessment. ToThAc (talk) 06:00, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
- There certainly is "a chance that a user might want the target page to point to YMCA instead." And since The Y is a redirect, it should be discussed at WP:RFD. @An anonymous username, not my real name: @1234qwer1234qwer4: 162 etc. (talk) 17:48, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
- As somewhat of an RfD regular, I can say that primary topic discussions about article/disambiguation titles have always been being referred to RM. 1234qwer1234qwer4 19:04, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
- The Y is neither an article, nor a disambiguation page. 162 etc. (talk) 21:50, 11 February 2025 (UTC)

- Comment I've opened an RFD for The Y, and encourage all interested editors to participate there, not here. 162 etc. (talk) 22:01, 11 February 2025 (UTC)

- Support. I'm commenting here because opening an RfD is just silly when the nom opened one a few days ago and was advised to use RM, so let's just stay here and have the discussion in one place. There seems to be no consensus to retarget The Y to YMCA, which I think is understandable, which infers that there's no primary topic for "The Y", which infers the disambiguation page should be at the base name. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 16:50, 15 February 2025 (UTC)
- > "There seems to be no consensus to retarget The Y to YMCA"
- WP:RFD is for discussing redirects, such as The Y. The RFD process is the correct one to determine whether there is such a consensus.
- Opening an RM before that consensus, or lack thereof, is established, doesn't make sense.
- Having said RFD prematurely closed by an involved editor also doesn't make sense. 162 etc. (talk) 21:30, 15 February 2025 (UTC)
- @162 etc.: Having two discussions open at the same time for the exact same action makes even less sense. ToThAc (talk) 23:41, 15 February 2025 (UTC)
