Adam Roberts as a reliable source here

[edit]

Adam Roberts (British writer) is a subject-matter expert on science fiction, being among other things the author of The History of Science Fiction. More can be read at the "Roberts, Adam" entry in The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction. I added a link to an article Roberts wrote ("An Introduction to Edgar Allen Poe's 'Hans Pfaall'") to the "External links" section a while back. This was removed on the (admittedly, at first glance fairly reasonable) grounds that it looks like a 20+ year old blog post from someone who can't spell Poe's name correctly. So I added it back, noting that Roberts is in fact a subject-matter expert even if the article looks amateurish. It was removed again, this time on the grounds that it is clearly not peer reviewed if the subject matter expert's article gets the subject's name wrong. This misses the point somewhat. Because Roberts is a subject-matter expert, the source is WP:RELIABLE regardless of where it was published; it would still be reliable if it were WP:Self-published (which it wasn't—it was published in Infinity Plus). Given that there has been no response here in about two weeks, I'm adding it back. TompaDompa (talk) 15:05, 15 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
