merge proposal: test driver and test drive
[edit]i think it would make sense to merge this article with Test drive. i don't see any reason to have separate articles for them, thoughts? Eatingbugs (talk) 02:25, 15 June 2025 (UTC)
- I would keep them, separate. Test drive is mostly about road vehicles driven by common people in the interest of buying the vehicle. Test driver is about vehicles in high levels of motorsport driven by specially skilled people in the interest of improving the vehicle. Stepho talk 10:26, 15 June 2025 (UTC)
- Sort of support. Test driver is not notable in itself, none of the sources for the article use the term and a web search brings up driving tests for me. I suggest moving that content into the championships that are written about. A search for Test drive brings up a long list of places where you can book a test drive, and archive library has various contexts that can be considered. Rally Wonk (talk) 10:45, 15 June 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose - Whilst the respective notability of each of these articles can be discussed elsewhere, the articles themselves cover completely different topics. "Test driver" refers to people who work in motor industry or motorsport industry research and development, whilst "Test drive" refers to consumers "trying before buying". HumanBodyPiloter5 (talk) 16:55, 15 June 2025 (UTC)
- ahh, not a very intuitive distinction, but you're right. thank you! Eatingbugs (talk) 05:06, 16 June 2025 (UTC)
- I am in agreement with @HumanBodyPiloter5's comments, and oppose the merge. RegalZ8790 (talk) 02:04, 17 June 2025 (UTC)
