Transliteration
[edit]@Potapt, @Art Choco Love, why are you two edit warring over transliteration? ✶Quxyz✶ 14:40, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
- Because this user has been adding content of questionable quality for quite some time. When asked where the information comes from, they don’t provide a clear answer and instead keep shifting the argument -- or even remove the "Citation needed" template. They also try to apply the Royal Society of Thailand’s romanization system to languages other than Thai, while at the same time removing that system from actual Thai names. So in this case, I have no idea where their "transliteration" comes from, because “Samnak Ngan Kan Truat Ngoen Phaendin” is not even spelled according to the Royal Society's system. - I could probably figure it out myself if I had a reference sheet. Not sure if it would violate OR though. ✶Quxyz✶ 16:03, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
- That is one of the many things I've asked this user to provide as evidence for their claim. Potapt (talk) 16:08, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
- In general, do transliterations have to be cited. For example, I can (mostly) transliterate Greek but I wouldn't have a source for it. ✶Quxyz✶ 16:31, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
- I think it may not be necessary when the rules are widely understood, but in this case, they are not. Potapt (talk) 16:54, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
- Plus, their "transliteration" could vary if it is challenged. Potapt (talk) 16:59, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
