Definition of panhandle?

Many of these locations don't seem like they protrude enough to be considered "panhandles". Does anyone actually consider the Somali Region of Ethiopia as a panhandle? And if the entire northeastern section of Mali is a "panhandle", wouldn't that also imply that the eastern half of Zambia is also a panhandle? What about the eastern section of Niger?

Also, how in the world is West Timor a panhandle? Most of these I can see where it's coming from but that one just makes zero sense to me. TurkeyCookTime (talk) 01:44, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
