What importance does Legend of Grimrock have for this topic? It is an RPG but not a very notable one in my opinion. Wouldn't an image of a game that's been particularly influential be more fitting? Also, it seems like it isn't free software. I know Wikipedia doesn't require screenshots to be of free software, but for broad topics like this one they usually are. AI in Role-Playing Games

[edit]

The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in role-playing games has significantly evolved, providing dynamic narrative experiences traditionally managed by human game masters in tabletop RPGs. AI-driven role-playing games automate storytelling, character interactions, and world-building, enabling highly personalized gameplay.

One notable early example is [[AI Dungeon]], developed by Latitude in 2019, AI Dungeon utilizes GPT-2 and later GPT-3 language models from OpenAI to generate adaptive and open-ended narratives. Players interact through text commands, freely exploring evolving storylines without traditional scripted constraints.

Another significant entry in this field is AI Game Master, developed by Digital Dynasty Entertainment and launched in 2024. This game emphasizes a complete RPG experience, including character creation, AI-generated imagery, procedural storytelling, and turn-based combat. Its AI engine dynamically responds to player choices, crafting immersive and uniquely tailored adventures.

Similarly, the Game Master Platform provides tools employing advanced AI to simulate a traditional tabletop game master digitally. It emphasizes multiplayer experiences, maintaining narrative coherence while adapting flexibly to player decisions and actions.

These advancements underscore a growing trend toward AI-enhanced role-playing experiences, substantially enriching narrative depth, character interaction, and player immersion within the genre.

we have no interest in what you or chat-gpt have to say about your project. Unless there is significant 3rd party coverage, it won't end up on this page. mgjertson (talk) (contribs) 13:19, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, I am new to this. Coverage is definitely accumulating in this space in general and on our product as well. What would you define as "significant coverage", so I know when the right time is to come back as I have clearly upset you Odedbendov (talk) 16:11, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
When reliable sources (e.g. WP:VG/RS) cover them. For article content, it's an editorial decision how much that would be. Given this is an article about the entire RPG genre, then the bar is pretty high to include games to serve as examples. In fact, more importantly we want sources about "AI" use itself first and any game or tool examples would be very brief. Only if they get a lot of coverage - many news articles, reviews and such, specifically mentioning and analyzing the AI. Normally, only games that become quintessential examples of something get included in genre topic articles. —  HELLKNOWZ  TALK 17:09, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so much for the added info! It's clearer now. I know this means nothing coming from me and expecting nothing - but within a year, I believe we will become the quintessential example of the AI RPG space. We're doing something right - but time will be the eventual ruler :) Thanks again! Odedbendov (talk) 17:26, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
