Philanthropy Section
[edit]![]() | This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest was declined. |
Hello, I would like to increase this article's relevance by updating it with information about the company's philanthropic work. Can you please create a philanthropy section with the following information?
Rocket Community Fund serves as the philanthropic partner company of Rocket Mortgage.[1][2] The fund has launched initiatives that focus on ending veteran homelessness[3] and supporting digital literacy.[4]
In 2021, Rocket Community Fund announced an investment of $500 million in Detroit, to be spent over the course of 10 years.[2][5] That same year, they gave $5 million to the Rehabbed & Ready program which rehabilitates homes in Detroit and helps residents access financing for homeownership.[1]
In 2023 the company announced that its team members, along with those from partner companies, have spent 1 million hours volunteering in the community.[6] In 2024, the Rocket Mortgage Classic raised 1.5 million for charity. Since its inception in 2019, the tournament has raised nearly $10 million for local charities, 6 million of which has been donated to “Changing the Course”, an initiative which aims to connect residents with high speed internet access and digital devices and training.[7]

- @Annie13478:, I have reviewed some of your requests but I would not be inclined to add this to the page. It is promotional and something the company wants people to know about it, not something people coming to Wikipedia would want to know about it. I will leave it for someone else to review should there be a differing opinion. --CNMall41 (talk) 19:34, 10 February 2025 (UTC)
Not done: I don't see the relevance here either. Other companies do charitable work too, but it's not generally included. ⸺(Random)staplers 05:33, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for your feedback, CNMall41 and Randomstaplers. I respect your decision, but I am confused by it. I got the idea of adding a philanthropy section to this page because I noticed similar ones in Wikipedia articles of other companies. I'm trying to learn more about Wikipedia and appropriate content- could you explain when including a Philanthropy section on a company page might be relevant and when it is not?
- Thank you for your time, Annie13478 (talk) 12:25, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
- I understand it can be confusing and I appreciate your willingness to learn as a COI editor. Please see WP:OTHERSTUFF which should help shed some light. If the company is known for its philanthropy or there is some specific campaign that is notable, then we would include it. Simply listing any of its philanthropy that has press is not something that is normally done. --CNMall41 (talk) 20:35, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hi CNMall41, I looked over this again and re-read your feedback. Would it be appropriate to include the following, having trimmed away the potentially promotional details?
- In 2021, Rocket Community Fund announced an investment of $500 million in Detroit, to be spent over the course of 10 years.[1][2]
- In 2023 the company announced that its team members, along with those from partner companies, have spent 1 million hours volunteering in the community.[3]
- I've stuck to only the most significant information. Thank you, Annie13478 (talk) 14:00, 7 March 2025 (UTC) Annie13478 (talk) 14:00, 7 March 2025 (UTC)
