Talk:Reflection (philosophy)

Should be merged with Self-reflection
[edit]Subject is important, and was generated from decent source: translating the German wikipedia article. However, English wikipedia already has article Self-reflection ... the two articles should be merged. Although this (new) article emphasizes philosophy, and the older article emphasizes psychology, there is sufficient overlap that they should be merged. The top priority is what is best for readers: and they will want a single article. Noleander (talk) 21:29, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Noleander, If you're referring to WP:CFORK there are already multiple articles with a topic differentia in paranthesis in their title, e.g.:
- There are many other such examples like Identity, Pluralism, Accident and many more. So even though homonymous they refer to different topics. Xpander (talk) 12:55, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
- the point raised here is potentially valid, but with the exception of Action, the examples given are not; Transcendence probably ought to be merged, Phenomenology seems to be spread across five different articles (though the physics/peirce topic is again something different), and Spiritualism (philosophy) has... various issues. With philosophy and psychology especially there are problems disambiguating because they aren't distinct fields of study until the early 20th century, and philosophy and religion inevitably end up covering the same topics as the only difference is (occasionally) whether or not you're allowed to disagree. - Merge - I can't see a difference in scope between this article and Self-reflection, which is already about philosophy and doesn't seem like it ought to be about anything else. For example, if one were to write a hatnote directing a reader from one article to the other, it's not clear what it would say. Psychastes (talk) 15:52, 9 June 2025 (UTC)
