Rasha Alawieh → Deportation of Rasha Alawieh – Per WP:BLP1E. Alawieh is only known for her deportation and denial into the United States. 🌙Eclipse (she/they/all neos • talk • edits) 23:23, 17 March 2025 (UTC)

- Move per nomination statement. No opposition to revisiting my view on this if/when more sources about her pre-deportation are found, and if someone does find that please ping me. -bɜ:ʳkənhɪmez | me | talk to me! 23:28, 17 March 2025 (UTC)
- Move although I think it is likely that we will see a lot more coverage, both about the deportation and about Alawieh's life prior to it, in the days to come, and we may be back to a biography in due time. signed, Rosguill talk 02:00, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
- Move I had suggested the same thing for the same reason at the Teahouse. The event (her deportation) is the claim of notability at this time. Cullen328 (talk) 04:16, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
- I agree that her claim to nobility is related solely to the event, however, the term 'deportation' might be inadequate here. She was not deported but denied entry into the US. Commentator (talk) 05:01, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
- We summarize what reliable sources say, and reliable sources say that she was deported. Cullen328 (talk) 05:33, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
- Move per nomination statement. Bondegezou (talk) 14:05, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
- Keep Although most people have heard of her because she was denied reentry to the US, she is a highly skilled surgeon, one of a select few working in the US who are capable of performing the transplants that she does. I searched for this article under her name, not under "deportation of...". I think it works just fine to keep the article under her name with the section about her entry denial being the biggest part of the article. Johnny Rose 11 (talk) 18:54, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
- Actually she is not a surgeon at all and is not performing transplants. Commentator (talk) 00:39, 19 March 2025 (UTC)
- Move per nomination. She is not notable outside of her removal. Every source included in the page is about her deportation, not her skill as a surgeon. I also agree with @Commentator, though, and think that we should monitor how sources describe her removal. Though they currently say she was deported, if that changes we should be prepared to move the page to something more accurate
- Move per nom. The event is notable and newsworthy, a biography of the individual is BLP1E. Carrite (talk) 01:17, 19 March 2025 (UTC)
- Move per nom. I do have some sympathy for the idea that the title should be more factually correct if she was "turned away" or "expelled" instead of deported. But as 99% of the sources seem to say "deported" this is what we must use. -- Bob drobbs (talk) 16:01, 19 March 2025 (UTC)
- Move per nom. Classic BLP1E case. Suriname0 (talk) 21:03, 21 March 2025 (UTC)

Justification for the article.
[edit]Will we create an article for every deportee that makes headlines? If at all, this story should be added to "Immigration policy of the second Donald Trump" under a subsection "Controversies." CanadianAmerican96 (talk) 02:45, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
- I second this option.

- I think in cases like this where the person is either high profile or notable and also is deported or denied entry, it's not the same as just some random person who makes the headlines for being deported or denied entry. It's the same story with Mahmoud Khalil. He had some notoriety as a leader of the Columbia protests and indeed that's why he was targeted by the Trump administration. This is a transplant surgeon who specializes in surgeries that only a handful of people in any given US state can perform. It's being reported that she was one of only 3 in Rhode Island capable of performing such transplants. Johnny Rose 11 (talk) 19:02, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
- Agree to keep this article, as this particular controversy is significant.VR (Please ping on reply) 21:31, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
- The fact that she can make rare surgeries still makes her a random person. So while this Khalil guy was known earlier, this Rasha was and still is unknown.
- I am suggesting that since many consider this a big controversy, it can be given prominence by adding it to a list of controversies under the immigration policy of the second Trump administration. Are we going to make Wikipedia pages for every person that makes it into a headline once?
- So I remain with my argument asking if we will give a Wikipedia page for every deportee that achieves any level of publicity? CanadianAmerican96 (talk) 17:59, 19 March 2025 (UTC)
- We follow WP:GNG. If any topic achieves a certain level of publicity, yes, we can cover it. Bondegezou (talk) 09:52, 20 March 2025 (UTC)
