Confusing article

[edit]

This article mentions both May 2005 and November 2008 as starting dates of Mahmoud Abbas’ presideny. Which one is correct? And more important; how and when is the president of the State of Palestine elected? The section ‘Election and terms’ only has info on the election and term of the President of the Palestinian National Authority (and this info is outdated as no election seems to have been organised since 2005). — 37 (talk) 10:14, 18 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The matter is quite complex. Actually, there have never been democratic elections. It has my attention. For now, I will make a small edit. --Qualitatis (talk) 15:08, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

President of the State of PalestinePresident of Palestine – WP:COMMONNAME, WP:CONCISE. Doesn't lose any precision per the December consensus and also follows other titles for (x) in Palestine. Support per nom, prior consensus, and other recent RMs. Not clear why these aren't being done all at once. --MYCETEAE 🍄‍🟫—talk 02:21, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
100% Support if Israel is a state but the Wikipedia page name of the president is the President of Israel rather than the President of the State of Israel, then the same should happen for Palestine. The page name should be moved to the President of Palestine as that's the Wikipedia page name of all states. Richie1509 (talk) 02:57, 27 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Comment: I have no direct opinion. While Israel is used instead of the State of Israel, the “State of Palestine” sounds more formal. Overall, I won’t do anything unless consensus is reached. HwyNerd Mike (talk | contribs) 06:27, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

"Palestine" or "State of Palestine"?

[edit]

Since the title is changed to "President of Palestine", now the question is whether or not to change some of the wordings of "State of Palestine" to "Palestine". Both are technically Palestine, so this might need discussion. HwyNerd Mike (talk | contribs) 15:53, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Change to Palestine for consistency with the title Easternsahara (talk) 13:15, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
