I want to edit this article to a more world-wide view rather than an more United States view. Jiaxi9 (talk) 20:19, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Jiaxi9 at this time you cannot edit the article but please do take a look at the Welcome message I placed on your talk page. If you have very specific changes you want to request, I suggest using the WP:Edit Request Wizard. Be sure to include reliable sources. S0091 (talk) 20:26, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
- Why? As explained in the article the term is clearly U.S.-specific in origin and use. Perhaps a section could be added that discusses its use elsewhere, but it would have to be notable, NPOV, and based on reliable sources. Perhaps create a draft (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Drafts, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Article_wizard/CreateDraft) and link to it here so people can see what you have in mind. 2600:8802:5913:1700:3199:B544:3C27:BC77 (talk) 07:44, 10 March 2025 (UTC)

Change "From the 2010s, however, it has been adopted elsewhere in the Anglosphere (often as person of colour), including relatively limited usage in the United Kingdom,[2] Canada,[3] Australia,[4] Ireland,[5] South Africa,[6] and Singapore.[7]" to "From the 2010s, however, it has been adopted elsewhere in the Anglosphere (often as person of colour), including relatively limited usage in the United Kingdom,[2] Canada,[3] Australia,[4] Ireland,[5] New Zealand,[6] and Singapore.[7]" Divan Geyser (talk) 21:39, 20 March 2025 (UTC)
- I don't understand the reason for the requested change. The sentence currently includes South Africa, and cites a reliable source (in Footnote 6) that in two separate instances uses the term "people of colour" to refer to non-whites. The article cited in Footnote 6 refers solely to South Africa, not to New Zealand. Why should South Africa be removed from the sentence? And, if what you wish to do is keep South Africa but add New Zealand to the list of Anglophone countries that use the term "person of color" (or a variant thereof) to refer to non-white people generally, can you provide a reliable source that supports such addition?
