Historical Population table is misleading
[edit]Every component county of Peoria MSA lost population from 2010 to 2020, and yet the "Historical Population" table shows pronounced growth in that time period. I'm pretty sure this is because the historical numbers (or at least the 2010 number) doesn't include Fulton County, but the 2020 number does. Here's the table:
Census Year | Fulton County, IL | Tazewell County, IL | Woodford County, IL | Marshall County, IL | Stark County, IL | Peoria County, IL | Total (6 counties) | Total (w/o Fulton) | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
2010 | 37,069 | 135,394 | 38,664 | 12,640 | 5,994 | 186,49 | 416,255 | 379,186 | |
2020 | 33,609 | 131,343 | 38,467 | 11,742 | 5,400 | 181,830 | 402,391 | 368,782 |
I'm not sure what the protocol is for updating historical tables is when the definition of the census area has changed recently (I think that's the case?? At least, citepopulation.de doesn't include Fulton.) I haven't tried to find component county numbers further back than 2010 to check the other year entries in that table. But as it stands the table shows population growth during a decade in which the MSA actually lost population, and that should be fixed. Quae legit (talk) 21:52, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
- Edit: Sorry, I copy-pasted the summation part of the table wrong. It's been fixed. Quae legit (talk) 22:12, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
