"In November 1944, while the division and several attached units were redesignated as Panzerkorps Großdeutschland." - sentence is grammatically incorrect! The "while" is possibly not needed? 91.14.35.170 (talk) 15:15, 28 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

" Lt. Col. Fritz Bandelow conducted the Courts Martial..." - CourtS Martial? Court Martial! 91.14.35.170 (talk) 15:17, 28 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Seems odd that Guy Sajer's The Forgotten Soldier is not listed as a reference, even though it is regarded as an eyewitness account of the Grossdeutschland division between 1943-1945. Before someone counters that that work is not considered reliable, consider that one of the key criticisms - according to Wikipedia - is that Sajer describes the insignia sewn on the wrong sleeve, which seems a minor detail in an autobiographical account written decades after the fact. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.234.229.197 (talk) 08:41, 20 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"elite combat unit"

[edit]

I think we need some background here. What made GD elite - recruitment standards? training? I understand it was favoured for manning and equipment over other German divisions, and that raises a question in itself - why was it given special status? The page is strong on history and timelines, but the lede claim that GD was elite is left hanging with no explanation or justification. 114.23.162.174 (talk) 19:54, 28 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
