Former members

[edit]

I am thinking about merging the two tables of former members, indicating defunct status with zero active chapters. However, there are advantages to both presentation formats. Thoughts? Rublamb (talk) 14:03, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I really would prefer them apart, it really does represent two different situations and we do separate them in categories such as member lists and chapter lists.Naraht (talk) 15:09, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. I just noticed that these lists are merged for other organizations, such as NPC. Rublamb (talk) 15:35, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
NPC has 11 that merged with other NPC groups and Iota Alpha Pi that went defunct as opposed to the NIC which has 22 former members that walked away. For the NIC, the ones that went out of existance, indicating who they merged with (if anyone) in the table would probably be good. Naraht (talk) 20:35, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
For the women's groups I don't know of any other cases. For the men's groups, of course, several Black, Asian or Latino groups have joined the NIC, and now, probably half of these have since withdrawn. I assume they joined to make use of the time in the NIC to end the habits of poaching that had been evident on some campuses, or to network nationally and share tactics. I've always heard that these withdrawals were friendly; may have been for budgetary reasons once the poaching culture had been tamped down. Separately, I heard that the FFC groups that withdrew from the NIC cited both budgetary reasons and a significant lobbying disagreement with the NIC. Jax MN (talk) 20:44, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
