Re assertion: "Lebrecht’s predictions on the decline of the classical music industry have been generally vindicated"

[edit]

See the following counter arguments:

  • What a bum note, Norman. "Norman Lebrecht's Maestros, Masterpieces and Madness launches a strident attack on classical music. Alas, it drops the baton, says Adam Mars-Jones". The Observer, April 15, 2007. [2]
  • Can classical music escape the noose? "Doomsayers claim that classical recording has a death wish. Neil Fisher argues it’s not over till the small labels sing". The Times, April 27, 2007. [3]
  • A Scavenger Of Classical Music. Review of Norman Lebrecht: The Life and Death of Classical Music. By Benjamin Ivry, The New York Sun, April 19, 2007. [5]
  • The day the music died? (Review of Maestros, Masterpieces and Madness) By Susan Tomes, The Independent, April 6, 2007.[6]
  • Curtain call for the classics (Review of Maestros, Masterpieces and Madness) By Michael White, The Sunday Times. April 8, 2007. [7]

Need complete bibliography

[edit]

The edit removing "Incomplete list" template stated "Bibliography: not supposed to be complete" in reference to the previous section which was "Selected Bibliography". The point is that a complete bibliography is needed for this article. 71.230.16.111 (talk) 09:06, 20 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Possible BLP violations

[edit]

Hello. I am concerned by recent edits to this page which use strongly negative, possible defamatory, language about Lebrecht. I know he's got a bit of a reputation but recent allegations made here have included hoaxer and fabricator, which are surely serious accusations against a journalist. There's been one feeble attempt at sourcing it, with something that's just hearsay. I hope Lebrecht isn't handy reaching for his lawyers. Am I right to be concerned or should I just let this crusader get on with it and not worry about the damage? Best to all, DBaK (talk) 00:20, 24 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

No reply here and the editing continues so I have raised it at Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard#Norman Lebrecht. If it's suggested there or by credible editors here that my concerns are unfounded, I will cheerfully back off. Best to all, DBaK (talk) 19:09, 24 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I have deleted the material sourced to ‘anon’ as unsuitable for a BLP. See WP:BLPGOSSIP “Be wary of relying on sources that ….attribute material to anonymous sources.” Sweet6970 (talk) 19:22, 24 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
