The Nevada Department of Public Safety was authorized by the state legislature to rebrand itself—not actually change its name—they operate as the Nevada State Police. Either this should be merged into the actual department, or the Nevada State Police article to be about the division of the department, the Nevada Highway Patrol, which is part of the "Nevada State Police." I would hope that accuracy over branding would be the best route for an encyclopedia. And, if it helps, I'm a native Nevadan and I had no idea the nature of the relationship between the two until I looked up news articles.
