Drag Race appearance
[edit]This article does not mention his appearance on "Drag My Wedding", if worth adding to the Filmography table. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:41, 13 April 2024 (UTC)

Hey! I will be reviewing this GA! The article looks good so far, very thorough but not overly detailed.
Before doing a full review, however, I have noticed that there are many unsourced statements/paragraphs in the article. Most of "1989–2003" and the first two paragraphs of "2004–2014" are unsourced, and so are various other sentences, such as "He starred in the films The Smurfs (2011) and The Smurfs 2 (2013)" and "Later in 2014, Harris played the role of Desi Collings in Gone Girl, directed by David Fincher".
As this is quite a lot of information, the article is not to GA standards yet - however, I do not want to quickfail it as there is a lot of potential, so I will put the review on hold and when the sourcing is fixed, I will do a full thorough review :) In the meantime, please do not hesitate to ask me any questions! DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 01:54, 25 February 2025 (UTC)
- Got it. I will try my best to continue to include citations where necessary (having done so earlier) and see how else I can improve this article. This may take around a few days. Inpops (talk) 21:28, 25 February 2025 (UTC)
- Take your time, I am happy to allow more than 7 days if it helps you and the article :) DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 04:02, 26 February 2025 (UTC)
- Have completed this process. I have tried to include sufficient sources wherever I can. Some I have found elsewhere, but a lot are borrowed from other articles. Inpops (talk) 15:48, 1 March 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you so much! This is amazing, you should be so proud!! I am very busy this weekend so I will give it a proper look on Monday or so. However, there is still the sentence "Harris is an agnostic" in the personal life which needs a non-primary school, and the filmography and discography are unsourced. The sentence "From 1999 to 2000, he starred with Tony Shalhoub in the NBC sitcom Stark Raving Mad, which lasted 22 episodes" in the career section is also unsourced. I am wondering if it may make sense to split the filmography into a separate article due to its large size? DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 17:05, 1 March 2025 (UTC)
- Have included sources for the film credits in places where necessary. I am going to hopefully do the same for TV later in the following days and possibly discography if I can find any. Unfortunately I did not see your reply until today morning. I am assuming some credits in the table would not need citations if they are covered elsewhere in the article body. I could not seem to find a source for the agnostic statement; according to Microsoft Copilot "it’s more accurate to say that his religious beliefs are a private matter rather than to definitively categorize him as agnostic." Inpops (talk) 22:04, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hey, how is the sourcing going? You have done a great job of it so far and the article looks in much better shape. I see that the filmography table is still half sourced, so maybe taking some of the sources from the prose and putting them in there may help. Regarding the "Harris is an agnostic" sentence, it may be worth removing it if a secondary source cannot be found, or changing it to something like "Harris wrote on his MySpace page in x year that he identifies as agnostic". I haven't done a full check yet but from the prose, the sentences "Additionally, Harris and partner David Burtka were guests of honor for a season 1 episode of Top Chef Masters, "Magic Chefs", that took place at the Magic Castle" in Personal Life and "In July 2022, Harris starred in the Netflix series Uncoupled as gay Manhattanite Michael Lawson, a realtor re-navigating the dating scene after 17 years" and "In January 2021, Harris starred in the British drama series It's a Sin, broadcast on Channel 4 and HBO Max, depicting the 1980s HIV/AIDS epidemic in the United Kingdom" in the career section are unsourced. Take your time though, I won't rush you, just wanted to check in :) You are doing a great job! :D DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 05:54, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks. Since I have been kind of busy this month, I have tried to do a little each day and continue from there, though I could not edit this Monday (I don't recommend you look into what happened with me at that time). I'm still currently editing the TV credits table, but I may source those following sentences and then come back to it. I've seen other GAs that don't include citations in the tables if the info is already covered in the article, so I do not think we need to include citations in the tables here if cited elsewhere, but I may still consider this. Inpops (talk) 21:09, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
- No worries, please take your time! DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 21:12, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
- I think I'm getting quite close to the end of this process. Most of the credits now have a citation either in one of the tables or somewhere else in the article. The only credit where I was not able to find anything was The RuPaul Show. I don't know what the consensus is, but seeing that other similar filmography tables for actors don't list appearances on these sort of talk/variety shows, it may be best to remove it. - Comment: @Inpops and DaniloDaysOfOurLives: where are we at with this review? It doesn't look like there's been much activity recently and I just wanted to check in. IntentionallyDense (Contribs) 03:32, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hey, Inpops has been adding sources everyday and has been working very hard at it. They recently said that they were close to finishing it, so when they are finished I'm going to do a further check and a source spotcheck. So far so good 😊 DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 03:35, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- Sounds good! thanks for putting that out there I just wanted to check in on how you guys were doing! IntentionallyDense (Contribs) 03:40, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- I just wanted to make sure that this citation could be included here, since I was unsure about including it, though I would probably assume it's alright. I think I would be done with this process if I add just one more source. Inpops (talk) 16:13, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- I think that is okay, but I am not too sure. What did you want it to support? I will do a review either tomorrow or Monday/Tuesday and post my comments here. DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 18:13, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- I tried to discuss it at the noticeboard but I've seemingly got no responses. I was going to put it in the table to support the At Home with Amy Sedaris TV credit. Inpops (talk) 18:50, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hey @Inpops:, are you ready for me to do a review or would you like me to wait a bit longer? DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 05:01, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- I think it should now be safe to do a review. Inpops (talk) 21:20, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

Full review:
Hey, I have finally gone through and done a full review. First of all, well done on the article! It is very good and you should be very proud for your hard work. I ran the IABOT and archived some sources and I also went through and made some minor changes, most of which were just to improve the wordings and sentence structures etc. Here are my comments - most of them are quite minor and are just about clarity or sourcing:
Lead:
1.) "On stage, he made his Broadway debut in the David Auburn play Proof in 2002, after starring as Mark Cohen in the national tour of Rent" - I think these should be switched around if Rent came before Proof, as it is a bit confusing
2.) "He was named one of Time's 100 Most Influential People in 2010.[1]" - This is not mentioned in the main article - could you move this sentence down to the 2004–2014 section? Then the ref can be removed from the lead too
Early life and education:
1.) I would recommend linking or briefly explaining "graduating with high honors" (I think Honors student is the right link?) to provide clarity for readers
2.) "being privately tutored half the school year while on set" - Could you please clarify which set this was, or at least clarify that this was the sets of the film/TV/stage productions that he was on?
1989–2003:
1.) "starring Whoopi Goldberg and based on the novel by Joseph Olshan" - I think this can be removed
2.) The paragraphs are quite small - could you please merge the three into two?
2004–2014:
1.) "The two "riffed" on the film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory" - Could this be expanded upon or clarified? What does "riffed" mean?
2.) "opposite Patti LuPone and others" can be removed
3.) "Harris went on to win the 2014 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical" - can you please clarify which role this was for?
4.) "In 2014, Harris turned down the chance to replace David Letterman as host of the Late Show on CBS, stating that he feared he would get bored of the repetition that hosting a nightly talk show would entail" - If the actor claims that he was never offered the job, I think "reportedly" should be added
2015–present:
1.) Can you briefly explain what Netflix is?
2.) "It ran for 3 seasons and 25 episodes before ending on January 1, 2019" - This is unsourced
3.) "The format would test the smarts of the most brilliant children in the country" - Could you rephrase this (particularly "test the smarts"?) please?
4.) "produced by luxury playing card company Theory11" - This is unsourced
5.) "It is currently available exclusively through Target"- This is also unsourced, but also it has the risk of becoming outdated and sounds potentially promotional, so it could be removed or changed to past tense if it was always only offered through Target
6.) "In July 2022, Harris starred in the Netflix series Uncoupled as gay Manhattanite Michael Lawson, a realtor re-navigating the dating scene after 17 years" - This is unsourced
7.) The paragraphs here are very short - could you please merge them into 2 pargraphs?
Personal life: 1.) "Harris is a fan of magic" - Could you please link or briefly explain which type of magic he is interested in?
2.) "Harris is a fan of magic, which was written into his characters on How I Met Your Mother, American Horror Story: Freak Show, and Glee. Harris won the Tannen's Magic Louis Award in 2006 and hosted the 2008 World Magic Awards on October 11, 2008" - Could you please add a source (or more)?
3.) "has also lent his name to a French-Swedish sportswear brand called Ron Dorff" - What does "lent his name" mean?
4.) "Harris is an agnostic" - This still has the non-primary source tag, so I think it may be worth removing if a secondary source cannot be found.
Other:
1.) Is it possible to source the bibliography and audiobooks sections?
2.) The infobox image is a bit big - could you please make it a bit smaller?
3.) Is there any other info that can be added to his career section that is not just about his appearances? For examples, if there are any facts about how Harris found working on certain projects or if there were any auditions he did not receive etc. - I think it would strengthen the article
4.) A lot of the "he starred with x" can be removed if there is no further info
5.) Some of the sources are missing the website/publication titles' links (e.g. The Hollywood Reporter and Rolling Stone) - could you please add these?
After these have been addressed, I will do a source spotcheck and hopefully pass the article. Please let me know if you have any questions at all or need any help. Well done! You should be so proud for your hard work. We are nearly there! DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 03:45, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hey, just letting you know that I have spotchecked Sources 10, 11, 23, 29, 60, 98, 104, 121, 122, 136, 154, 155, 171, 178, 189, 193, 195 and 205. I'll check a couple more when I'm home :) Please let me know when you're done with the feedback 😊 DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 14:29, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- Lead:
- 1.) Done
- 2.) Done
- Early life and education:
- 1.) Done
- 2.) In the interview this article cites, he says he was just taught on a set (it is around the 5:09 mark here) (not necessarily one he used for one of his works), so I have now clarified that sentence.
- 1989–2003:
- 1.) Done
- 2.) Done
- 2004–2014:
- 1.) I have now clarified that sentence.
- 2.) Done
- 3.) Clarified to say that this was for a role mentioned in the preceding sentence
- 4.) Done
- 2015–present:
- 1.) Done
- 2.) Included a source
- 3.) Done
- 4.) I have now included a source that more broadly covers the information on the game mentioned in the article
- 5.) Amended the statement to reflect date of the source publication
- 6.) Added a source
- 7.) Done
- Personal life:
- 1.) Added his interest in card magic, though I'm assuming he is probably also into other types of magic
- 2.) Done
- 3.) Clarified that statement to say it was a collab, since its reported as such by sources.
- 4.) Done
- Other:
- 1.) Done
- 2.) Done
- 3.) Included the reason as to why he stepped down from his role on Hedwig, as well as another role he was considered for on American Horror Story but didn't get
- 4.) Done
- 5.) Done
- Hopefully the article will now be passed. Inpops (talk) 17:38, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hey, I am satisfied with the changes. I am going to pass this. Well done! DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 18:57, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
