COVID-19 Response

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the BPOM played a central role in the evaluation and authorization of COVID-19 vaccines and therapeutic drugs in Indonesia. In January 2021, BPOM approved the emergency use of the Sinovac vaccine, enabling the start of the country's mass vaccination program.^[2] The agency also streamlined regulatory procedures to accelerate access to critical health products, working closely with national and international stakeholders.^[3]

2. **In the first paragraph of "History", change:** "Operating under the auspices of the Dutch pharmaceutical company, DVG itself was in charge of producing chemical drugs as well as operating a pharmaceutical research center." to "Operating under the Dutch colonial administration, DVG was responsible for public health matters, including pharmaceutical production and research."

3. **Add the following to the end of the "Task and function" section:**

In recent years, BPOM has also implemented digital systems to support product registration and public access to information, including e-registration platforms and an online database of certified products.^[4]
