After recognition, they received financial assistance and scholarships before the 2008 Summer Games from the IOC amounting around $100,000: There is a double modifier ("before the 2008 Summer Games" and "from the IOC") after the object ("assistance and scholarships"). This makes it unclear what modifiers refer to what. It can be momentarily misread as if the second modifier is tied to the first modifier, rather than the object it is meant to refer to. This can be fixed by rearranging the sentence: "they received financial assistance and scholarships from the IOC amounting to around $100,000 before the 2008 Summer Games." This makes it clear.
