I've written a basic {{chem-stub}} at Magnesium stearate/Temp based on what I remember of this compound from high school chemistry. Sigh... Alphax τεχ 09:21, 20 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Photo

[edit]

Could we get a photo of actual magnesium stearate? Badagnani (talk) 02:00, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's a white powder. I fail to see the utility of a photo of a pile of indistinguishable white powder. Pi3832 (talk) 14:59, 19 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
haha, that's funny. Good to get a laugh on Wikipedia!KantElope (talk) 05:40, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but just think how many Wikipedia articles that pile of indistinguishable white powder could be used to illustrate! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 38.115.185.13 (talk) 23:16, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Lubricant" = antiadherent in tablet production

[edit]

See also: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Excipient#Antiadherents "Antiadherents Antiadherents reduce the adhesion between the powder (granules) and the punch faces and thus prevent sticking to tablet punches by offering a NON-STICK surface. They are also used to help protect tablets from sticking. The most commonly used is MAGNESIUM stearate".

Why is it in baby formulas?

[edit]

Why is magnesium stearate a common ingredient in baby formulas? Easy cleanup? :) Seriously, though, nothing in the article suggests a purpose for this application. BMJ-pdx (talk) 21:24, 13 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

That statement was mistaken.--Smokefoot (talk) 14:24, 14 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
