Book Marks italic

[edit]

It's curious this is not italicized. According to MOS:WEBITALIC it generally should be. There may be an argument for not doing so, but I think it should be. -- GreenC 01:44, 13 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Rotten Tomatoes is also a website, and it is never italic...
it does original reporting, but it isn't primarily a journal or magazine (which normally are); rather, it's an online web application for viewing a large database of items.

OK let's discuss. Book Marks has original content: reviewing reviews, then ranking the book overall. They might present it as objective database information, but it's not. Why is one review "Rave" and another "Positive"? It's their original decision. These rankings are not ancillary, they drive how readers use the site, the way it's designed these rankings are important to the site's utility. The site is in effect a big opinion. The reviews are an opinion, as are the review of reviews. -- GreenC 23:28, 13 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think Book Marks shouldn't be italicized, just like IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic. These aren't online newspapers nor dictionaries and so fall under the "case by case" rule – and in cases like these, the precedents are clearly (and very reasonably in my opinion) against italicization.
