Orphaned discoverers

[edit]

This is a list of all discovering astronomers which I could not identify sufficiently to create a redirect to this page, for minor planets > 600000. At least a first name is required, and ideally their country of birth and dob/dod. Any help is appreciated.

Split people & institutions?

[edit]

This page is part of the workflow of creating & maintaining the Lists of minor planets, but since Absolutiva tagged the article with {{Very long}}, should we split List of minor planet discoverers into List of minor planet discoverers (people) & List of minor planet discoverers (intitutions)? There are many redirects that will have to be adjusted.   ~ Tom.Reding (talkdgaf)  13:22, 20 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to assume this is sufficient after another week or so with no objections.   ~ Tom.Reding (talkdgaf)  20:46, 28 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Only the first letter of the first name and the last name of each discoverer can be found in the discoverers' list at the MPC:
https://www.minorplanetcenter.net/iau/lists/MPDiscsNum.html
Here at this article, the full name and more information are listed. May I ask where this information comes from, since it cannot be found at the MPC? 62.225.62.250 (talk) 09:42, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
