"Gnadiger Frau"
[edit]- "Go away gnadiger Frau [gracious lady]."[1]
- — Julian Royds Gribble VC, British Army officer (25 November 1918), dismissing his nurse while dying of pneumonia at Niederzwehren prisoner of war camp
"Gracious lady" in German is "gnädige Frau", not "gnadiger Frau". Did Julian Royds Gribble really mispronounce German that way or was it an error either in the cited source or by the Wikipedia editor who wrote this entry? I can't check the source as it returns a 404 error. JIP | Talk 20:31, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
- I have added a second citation for Gribble's last words, showing that the error came from either Gribble himself or the sources. Gildir (talk) 03:42, 16 October 2021 (UTC)
