It's just a list article, should we change to "none" as short description? 193.203.70.30 (talk) 22:37, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Maduro/Gonzalez

[edit]

I see Edmundo Gonzalez is listed as being inaugurated on January 10, 2025. Given that the Venezuelan election conflict is still ongoing, I don't see this as accurate Dorfulate (talk) 22:10, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Why isn't Mohammed al-Bashir on the list? He is the transitional prime minister, but do transitionals really count? G0dzillaboy02 (talk) 11:13, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Why is Beat Jans listed, not the current (newly elected) President Karin Keller-Sutter? Has Jans ever been more important than the other Federal Councilors?--79.251.244.96 (talk) 22:03, 18 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Karin Keller-Sutter is listed under 1 January 2019 - that is when she joined the Federal Council. Her term as president is included. Mtminchi08 (talk) 05:43, 5 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Mozambique Prime Minister + other countries

[edit]

Please note that despite the existence of an office called "Prime Minister", the President of Mozambique is actually both the Head of State and Head of Government. Moreover, as the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique is ex-officio designated as the country's Deputy Head of State, the position titled as "Prime Minister of Mozambique" is merely that of a Deputy Head of Government. Thus, he/she is just a member of the cabinet, as any other ministers.

Other countries that have similar designations include Equatorial Guinea, Peru, Uganda, and Namibia. Additionally, in two other countries in which the President is both Head of State and Government but the office of the Prime Minister also exists nominatively (South Korea and Sri Lanka), the PM is both Deputy Head of State and Head of Government, since the office of the Vice President does not exist.

Hence, my suggestion would be to remove from this list the Prime Ministers of Mozambique, Equatorial Guinea, Namibia, Peru, Uganda, as well as South Korea, Sri Lanka, as they are Heads of Government in nothing but name. In fact, they are merely cabinet members, which would imply that all countries' full cabinet members should be included in this list (which is not possible and reasonable). 31.44.72.176 (talk) 12:19, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I believe Belarus is another example of a country where the position of Prime Minister exists but the President is considered both Head of State and Head of Government. 2001:D08:2087:810E:F972:32A6:1AC6:D9D (talk) 05:57, 6 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Also, Guyana is another example where there is a position of Prime Minister which is not Head of Government while the President is both Head of State and Head of Government. 2001:D08:2087:810E:F972:32A6:1AC6:D9D (talk) 16:14, 9 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Can we add the father of Serdar Berdimuhamedow in the list too. I know Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow Resigned in 2022 but he's Still technically in charge and sharing power with his son, he is in the position as the Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan which is in my eyes its Prime minister in all but name

What say you, all-powerful User:Therequiembellishere?– Jwkozak91 (talk) 06:15, 27 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Because i feel like they is a problem and i just want to..."fix" problems or not adding things that it feels like we should add Namasteonly one (talk) 06:31, 27 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It's not about what you feel. Is there a common consensus among reliably sourced experts that the role is legally sharing power with the head of state? Therequiembellishere (talk) 20:43, 4 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think so. Ymblanter (talk) 12:31, 5 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
We need reliable sources beyond our opinions. Therequiembellishere (talk) 04:35, 6 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Well, you asked whether there is consensus among reliable source, I answered that I think this is the case. I probably can find a few sources, most in Russian, stating this, but I am not sure I have a source saying there in consensus about his role. Ymblanter (talk) 05:28, 6 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Prime Ministers that are not Heads of Government

[edit]

Someone needs to seriously address this issue, which has already been raised previously, as it is becoming a joke that renders information on this page factually inaccurate.

This list is supposed to reflect when current Heads of State and/or Government have been appointed, and not when officeholders titled "Prime Minister" that are not Heads of Government were appointed. First, this implies the wrong assumption that the title of Prime Minister by default means Head of Government - which is the case most of the time - but there are notable exceptions. Second, it disingenuously misguides this page's readers into believing that, e.g., the recently added Kim Min-seok is the Head of Government in South Korea. Truth is Lee Jae Myung (President of South Korea) is both Head of State and Government in the country, whereas Mr. Kim (Prime Minister officeholder) is merely a deputy Head of Government. This also contradicts information already available on the dedicated page for this office: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prime_Minister_of_South_Korea

By continuing to name non-Head-of-Government Prime Ministers, you are creating a dangerous precedent that undermines the page's accuracy. This practically means that if a certain country decided to presumably call its Chief of Intelligence "Prime Minister", than that person would still feature on this list by virtue of the position's name only, and not its role.

If we are only listing Heads of State and Government here, than the Prime Ministers of Equatorial Guinea, Guyana, Mozambique, Namibia, Peru, South Korea, Sri Lanka, and Uganda have to go. If you decide to leave them on this page, at least notify the reader that they are not Heads of Government. 31.44.66.9 (talk) 13:40, 14 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
