United States

[edit]

Just noticed the US had been removed last week by random ip user, after several edits seeking to have India ranked in first place(?) Typical vandalism. - wolf 04:24, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

% of total wealth figure

[edit]

This article defines "external debt" as public/government debt + private debt. It's then divided by "% of total wealth", with total wealth figures from the Global Wealth Databook series.

My issue with this is that the total wealth (for adult individuals) figures from the Global Wealth Databook are essentially: assets - debt: calculating external debt as a % of wealth held by individuals gives percentages that are too high. There should perhaps be instead be a column "external debt as a % of assets held by individuals", and maybe a column for public debt as a % of private wealth, and maybe a column for private debt as a % of private assets.

Also, as I understand, the Global Wealth Databook only calculates wealth for individuals aged 20 and older, whereas I think the "per capita" column here gives external debt for the entire recorded population for each country, which possibly skews figures for other columns. US figure is incorrect

[edit]

Most recent treasury print is $26.5T. https://ticdata.treasury.gov/resource-center/data-chart-center/tic/Documents/debtb2024q1.html

Looks like someone mixed up national debt and external debt. 162.211.162.26 (talk) 17:02, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Florida is not a country

[edit]

You have included Florida in the table. Florida is not a country but a US state. 2601:603:F7F:AF6B:0:0:0:F1 (talk) 09:38, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Source 2 "www.ceicdata.com" is wrong about the nordic coutnries dept.

[edit]

The debt shown in this source is stated to be in USD but are in local currencies for at least the nordic countries, possibly other countries as well. 65.229.158.214 (talk) 16:15, 3 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sources 5 and 6 are represented incorrectly

[edit]

On the page Luxembourg’s debt is listed in trillions, but the source refers to it in billions leading to an absolutely absurd and incorrect supposed debt. 2001:BB6:C35D:A800:81A1:3B02:36EC:4DFC (talk) 16:16, 25 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
