Anti submarine Helicopter Squadron

[edit]

Your article states the HH-60H Helicopters were used for anti submarine warfare ASW. They were not. They were HCS units used for Combat Rescue and Spec Ops Support. 2600:1012:B11E:2601:C46B:C70F:A64B:5917 (talk) 01:18, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have a source to support this? - wolf 10:37, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure what you are referencing but the "anti submarine helicopter squadron"s, actually called "Helicopter Antisubmarine Squadron"s (HS) were equipped with both the SH-60F anti-submarine helicopter and the HH-60H combat SAR/NSW support helicopter. We would deploy with eight total helicopters, six SH-60Fs and two HH-60Hs. My reference is myself as I was a pilot in a number of HS squadrons and flew both the SH-60F doing ASW and the HH-60H training for combat SAR or naval special warfare support flights, I would often fly both helicopters multiple times each week. You are correct that the U.S. Navy Reserve HCS squadrons were equipped with the HH-60H, but the active duty HS squadrons also flew them alongside their SH-60Fs Navalaviator84 (talk) 03:28, 6 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
