Améthyste not a new name
[edit]It is not factually correct to say that Améthyste is a new name, as it has been used before by the French Navy. The first Améthyste was a 30-gun frigate (with 26 x 8pdr and 4 x 4pdr guns) launched in 1754, which served in the French Navy throughout the Seven Years War and was taken to pieces in 1771 (see List of frigates of France). There was also a brig-sloop of this name during the Napoleonic War. Consequently, I have edited the opening paragraph of the present article to remove references to Améthyste as a "new" name. - I have been recently adding ships to this list but have only just now read the intro paragraph - and now I have seen your comment - would it be correct to say that this list only should only represent ships name that have been used more than once by the MN? - Of course if this is the case I will go through and delete all my entries Lǐshìmǎn (talk) 19:40, 26 January 2025 (UTC)
