@Drdpw I have fleshed the article out; do you think it can be published or does it need a bit more time to cook? Also, can you give some suggestions to formatting? Thanks, ✶Quxyz 16:15, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It would be good to build more into the draft about storm impact and aftermath first, and to give some meteorological history (No mention is made regarding NHC monitoring the system) before submitting the draft for review. Another good reason for waiting, is that this is an ongoing weather event, some gradual development into a tropical storm is possible during the next several days. Publishing appears premature at this time. Drdpw (talk) 17:19, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Is it ok that I am formatting this like a tropical storm article or do I need to do something different? ✶Quxyz 17:24, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Stanley Cup flight

[edit]

Really? I mean I know the game wasn't postponed, but this article is short and I'm struggling to find information to expand it. I really think this should be included. If it's not, it's so short I'd suggest a merge into Floods in the United States (2000-present). 2600:4808:353:7B01:49BE:53F0:16E6:5689 (talk) 15:40, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A flight delay that had no game ramifications is not really noteworthy, and wishing to pad a thin article is no justification for adding it either. Drdpw (talk) 15:46, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Considering it might have had impacts on the game from a player rest perspective, it certainly could have had an impact. The Panthers won game 3, but the Oilers won 4 and 5. And it certainly got extensive coverage. --2600:4808:353:7B01:49BE:53F0:16E6:5689 (talk) 15:56, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Southwest also flooded

[edit]

"South Florida", as in the current title, refers to the Miami side. But the article already mentions flooding in Sarasota, which is "Southwest Florida". Should this article be renamed to "June 2024 South and Southwest Florida floods"? Or maybe just "June 2024 Florida floods"? Michaelmalak (talk) 16:15, 17 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I feel like anything south of Orlando and Tampa is South Florida. It also too unweildy and specific to be a title per WP:CONSICE. ✶Quxyz 20:36, 17 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
For the definition of "South Florida", we have to go by the dedicated Wikipedia article South Florida. For conciseness, nothing beats "June 2024 Florida floods" Michaelmalak (talk) 00:15, 18 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No, we do not refer to Wikipedia's articles for definitions. We refer to secondary sources. Looking at the titles of the references, most of them refer to South Florida. The ones that don't likely refer to South Florida in the body, like FOX weather. I do not believe that North Florida was affected at all, and even if it was, it wouldn't be extreme to exclude it as we already exclude the Bahamas because the effects there are not notable. ✶Quxyz 14:50, 18 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
