Institute of Systems ScienceNUS-ISS – The institution has rebranded and is now officially known as NUS-ISS. The article should reflect the current name. Institute of Systems Science (talk) 06:41, 10 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose, per WP:COMMONNAME (Sources: President of the Republic of Singapore, National Library of Singapore, Singapore Ministry of Manpower, The Straits Times (1), The Straits Times 2, Channel News Asia, Project Management Institute, United States Department of Education, Unipage, QS Ranking) over WP:OFFICIALNAME. Also, your username indicates that you may have WP:COI with this request. Cfls (talk) 14:31, 10 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies, I wasn't aware of the COI guidelines. I am re-presenting my proposal under the discussion here. Please feel free to advise if my template is wrong or if this isn't the right section to place my proposal or if there's anywhere else I should be disclosing this COI.
I would like to propose that this article be renamed from Institute of Systems Science to NUS-ISS, as the latter is becoming the common term used by external media. As an employee of NUS-ISS, I fully acknowledge that this proposal comes with a COI. To maintain neutrality, I am presenting it here for consideration & discussion with neutral editors.
The institution underwent a rebranding to be known as NUS-ISS in late Nov 2022. Since then, the name "NUS-ISS" has been used across their official communications, branding, etc. You may see the official press release for further details.
Recent media articles that were published after the rebranding was announced, now refer to the institution by its recognised name, 'NUS-ISS'. Sources: Human Resources Online, Channel News Asia, The Straits Times, Gov Insider, Vulcan Post. Others: Shiksha, Masters Portal.
While some media still refer to the institution by its former name (Institute of Systems Science), they often use NUS-ISS more frequently in subsequent references. Such as the speech given by Former President Halimah Yacob at the 40th anniversary event, where both the former institution's name and NUS-ISS was mentioned.
Since NUS-ISS is increasingly being used in external media coverage, renaming this article would align it with the term commonly used in reliable sources, as outlined in WP:COMMONNAME. This would help to standardise the institution's representation on Wikipedia with how it's referred to in third-party sources. 44wermark (talk) 07:59, 16 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Renaming of "Institute of Systems Science" to "NUS-ISS"

[edit]
  • What I think should be changed: The article name should be renamed from Institute of Systems Science to NUS-ISS. As an employee of NUS-ISS, I fully acknowledge that this proposal comes with a COI. I am posting the discussion for the name change again as the previous discussion was closed shortly after I posted.
  • Why it should be changed: "NUS-ISS" is becoming the common term used by external media. The institution underwent a rebranding to be known as NUS-ISS in late Nov 2022.[1] Since then, the name 'NUS-ISS' has been used across their official communications. While some media still refer to the institution by its former name (Institute of Systems Science), they often use 'NUS-ISS' more frequently in subsequent references. Such as the speech [2] given by former President Halimah Yacob at the 40th anniversary event, where both the former institution's name and NUS-ISS was mentioned. Since NUS-ISS is increasingly being used in external media coverage, renaming this article would align it with the term commonly used in reliable sources, as outlined in WP:COMMONNAME. This would help to standardise the institution's representation on Wikipedia and how it's referred to in third-party sources.
  • References supporting the possible change (format using the "cite" button): Recent media articles that were published after the rebranding was announced now refer to the institution by its recognised name, 'NUS-ISS'. [3][4][5][6][7][8][9]

I have COI, so based on my understanding I shouldn't be using the requested move template. I noticed the previous discussion was closed shortly after I presented my sources, so I thought of opening a new discussion to revisit the topic. Appreciate on hearing your thoughts on this move discussion. Also if I may add on a new reference, here's a recent media article[1] that refers to the institution by NUS-ISS 44wermark (talk) 08:25, 7 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
