HB looks very white and not at all Maori. Is it known to which fraction they are of Maori descendance? On the German Wiki page it says they are of Maori descendance only on their father's side and have English and German heritage as well.--158.169.150.14 (talk) 13:53, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Citing their own web page (currently Ref. 3): "I descend from the Ngāi Tahu tribe in the beautiful South Island, and from Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāti Toa and Te Āti Awa in the North Island. My Māori heritage is from my father's side. Both of my parents also have non-Māori heritage, from England and in the case of my mother's family, Bavaria (a little place called Oberammergau). I was raised in Whakatane and Nelson, and lived for over 20 years in Wellington and Kāpiti." So this answers the question, assuming a person's own website counts as a reliable source.--2003:F6:1702:AA15:A4F3:7B85:9AF3:4C8D (talk) 08:31, 17 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hiya, yup, that definitely counts for this purpose. My "original research" comment was more directed towards the original commenter's reference to "which fraction". It's fine for the article to say she has both Māori and non-Māori heritage, as she herself says. (In fact, I notice the article also doesn't include anything about her identity as queer / takatāpui, which is a bit of a noticeable omission... I'll add that in too.)
