Why was Urchins stern given to HMS Ulster

HMS Ulster’s stern was damaged during WW II. It would seem sensible to retain HMS Urchin and dispose of HMS Ulster rather than carry out the expensive operation of taking the stern of Urchin to repair Ulster, so why was this done? 82.71.24.65 (talk) 03:59, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
