Sbb1234: Hello everyone, After reviewing this article, I hope to offer some feedback and suggestions for improvements based on the current state of the page. Lead Section: The lead provides a basic definition of genotyping, but it’s overly concise and doesn’t give an overview of the article’s major sections. I plan to expand this by briefly summarizing the structure of the page to help orient readers. Content and Sources: While the content is generally relevant and covers a variety of genotyping techniques and applications, it lacks depth in several areas. Many topics, particularly those in the applications section such as within tuberculosis are either unsourced or rely on outdated or non-peer-reviewed references. I plan to incorporate more recent peer-reviewed studies, especially from the past five years, and improve representation by including work from global and underrepresented communities—particularly in the ethics section. Ethics and Equity: The current ethics section is minimal and would benefit from more detailed, real-world examples and deeper engagement with topics such as consent, data privacy, and the implications for marginalized populations. I also plan to expand on the discrimination that can arise from genotyping, especially in the context of health disparities and access to genetic technologies. Media and Visuals: The article currently has no images or diagrams. Including visuals to show techniques like gel electrophoresis or PCR workflows would enhance clarity and engagement, particularly for readers unfamiliar with the subject. Talk Page and Collaboration: There’s little activity on this Talk page and no signs of recent collaboration. Considering the broad relevance of this topic, I think there’s a lot of potential for this article to be improved through collective effort. I’ll be making edits in the coming weeks and would welcome any feedback or additional sources others think should be included. Thanks everyone!Sbb1234 (talk) 19:22, 3 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Emnimo: Hello! I have a few proposed edits for this article that I will begin implementing. I plan to move the ethical concerns section from the application section to its own section near the bottom of the article. I will also be adding some new sub-headings in the applications section including microbial genotyping, ancient DNA genotyping, and forensic genotyping. I also hope to add more clarity in the techniques section by adding more sub-headings for the types of techniques (either old-gen/new-gen, or less-effective/more-effective) but for that I will be doing more research on how to divide that efficiently. Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated! Emnimo (talk) 15:40, 24 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Whitethroatedsparrow: Hello all, for a Genetics course assignment I will be Contributing to this wikipedia page.

Hello again, here are the topics we may add: SNP Genotyping for paternity tests, genotyping of ancient specimens, the history of genotyping, and genotyping in birds.

adding sections

[edit]

This article has many positions which need to be modified, including external sources . I suggest to break down the article into sections so that we can easily found the information such as the introduction and techniques of genotyping . I hope that my comments will help to improve this article.--Albahrani Batool (talk) 16:52, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
