Requested move 13 January 2025

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: no consensus. Closing no consensus since there has been no new discussion since the relisting, and there is no clear consensus yet. Although exploring the the merits of the other alias' Petit has been known by seems important to resolve, no progress has been made towards that end. Gene PetitCousin Luke – procedural nomination per this discussion in rfd, with the nom's rationale being that the subject is primarily known by his ring name. this counts as procedural, right? consarn (speak evil) (see evil) 11:24, 13 January 2025 (UTC) — Relisting. Reading Beans, Duke of Rivia 14:45, 20 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. He has held championships as "The Mongol" and "Gene Lewis", so definitely well-known by those ring names as well. When a wrestler is not overwhelmingly known by a single ring name, we usually default to the birth name - see Talk:Sid Eudy for a recent example. 162 etc. (talk) 16:36, 13 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support The wrestler is BEST KNOWN as Cousin Luke from the WWF (by far the largest and best known wrestling promotion) which I note this article also says and supports with a citation. The fact that other articles are wrong doesn't mean this one should also be wrong. Holding championships doesn't automatically indicate the greatest fame and there's virtually no greater fame for a pro wrestler than participating in major angles and matches for the WWF/WWE. Nobody is searching for him with "The Mongol" or "Gene Lewis" (the article doesn't even mention these except as unsourced infobox entries) and WP:CRITERIA says we should use the most recognizable and natural title. - The literary leader of the age 14:27, 18 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
