Alternate titles
[edit]Pinging IzzySwag to this as well...
Please note that as per the template documentation, the 'AltTitle' parameter notes its usage as, "An alternative title, such as a title that was originally changed.". As I've also repeatedly note, please understand that Epguides says the episode list & details for this show comes from TVMaze, and as a user of that site, I know is very much user-generated content, making it an unreliable source for this matter.
It would also be worth noting that The Futon Critic lists those titles currently, as Netflix did originally use those titles, but very recently changed them to the current titles. IMDb also doesn't use those titles now as I know that is also editable by anyone- which is why we don't source from IMDb. Magitroopa (talk) 03:25, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
- I, to be honest, started watching the show today, so I had no idea the episodes were originally titled that on Netflix. That is a certified My Bad! I also looked to an archived version of that Netflix source I just put up and for the first three episodes, it did use those titles so I'm fine with reverting back to the futon critic source, but I do suggest keeping the Netflix official source for future episodes. Thanks for the new information and discussing it here! IzzySwag (talk) 03:31, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
- You're completely fine- yes, the original titles and the new/current titles would both be fine to include, but obviously it would just continue on with the new/current titles for said future episodes. I'm seeing that archives for the official Netflix show page does not include the list of episodes, so both Tudum (for the newer titles) and The Futon Critic (for the original titles). Tudum/Netflix doesn't exactly list the episode air dates, so the ref for that column should definitely stick to TFC.
- So just listing the first episode (don't need to list the rest on the talk page), how would this look?:
No. | Title [1][2] | Directed by | Written by | Original release date [2] | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | "Should I Lend People Money?" "Lending People Money" | Joe DeMaio | Writing Supervised: Anna Drezen and Fran Gillespie. Writers: Jess Dweck, David Ferguson, Langston Kerman, Jeremy Levick, John Mulaney, Vanessa Ramos, Alex Scordelis, and Rajat Suresh. | March 12, 2025 | |
Mulaney talked to guests Michael Keaton, Joan Baez, Fred Armisen, and Personal finance columnist Jessica Roy. Musical guest Cypress Hill performed "Hits from the Bong". Mulaney opens the show with a monologue in which he discusses the title of the show, acting on Broadway in All In: Comedy About Love, his children, and his wife Olivia Munn's battle with cancer. Mulaney watches several men get attacked by lamps through a telescope. Saymo the robot is re-introduced. Baez talks about the current corruption in the U.S., Martin Luther King Jr.'s dirty sense of humor, and crashing her Tesla. Keaton shares an anecdote about Jack Nicholson's advice for giving money. Armisen promotes his new album 100 Sound Effects. Tracy Morgan portrays King Latifah. There's a pre-taped "Willy Loman Focus Group" sketch featuring Christopher Lloyd, Anthony Lapaglia, Rob Morrow, and others. |
