We need to talk about the pre-1996 hammer & sickle designs
[edit]
Is there any source stating that these were the offical designs pre-1996? The images do not cite authoritative sources. I'm not able to find a document that states that these designs were the offical ones. It seems like in 1942 there was decision that gave a general design, but no specifics --
"On April 28, 1942, the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee made the decision on the party flag pattern: 'The flag of the CPC has the length: width proportion of 3:2 with a hammer and sickle in the upper-left corner, and with no five-pointed star. The Political Bureau authorizes the General Office to custom-made a number of standard flags and distribute them to all major organs.'" source
Unless we are able to locate an authoritative document stating that these were the official designs pre-1996, I would propose one of the following:
1. Adding a caveat that there was these were not offical designs at the time, they were one of the different designs that may have people used
2. Completely removing these from their relevant articles to prevent confusion, to prevent conveying the image that these were the official designs
