Notability
[edit]I believe this article does not meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines. The subject appears to lack significant achievements or contributions that would warrant an encyclopedic entry. There is no clear indication of broader impact or importance in any notable field. Eladkarmel (talk) 20:17, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
- Due to Qatargate, the article is notable. Dgw|Talk 14:05, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
Lead
[edit]Hello, is it correct that text which appears in the WP:LEAD, does not have to appear again in the body?
The lead says:
"in March 2025 he was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the Qatari connection affair.<ref>{{cite web|last1=Sharon|first1=Jeremy|last2=Summers|first2=Charlie|date=31 March 2025|url=https://www.timesofisrael.com/netanyahu-summoned-for-questioning-in-qatargate-probe-as-top-aides-arrested/|title=Netanyahu testifies in Qatargate probe after police summons, as top aides arrested|work=The Times of Israel|access-date=2025-04-01}}</ref>".
I supplied a source also in the body, and wrote:
"In March 2025, an Israeli businessman, Gil Birger, moved money from Jay Footlik to Feldstein, as Feldstein's salary in the Office of the Prime Minister, bypassing the Israeli Income tax law.<ref>{{cite web|author=i24NEWS|date=31 March 2025|url=https://www.i24news.tv/en/news/israel/politics/artc-eli-feldstein-yonatan-urich-arrested-in-qatar-gate-affair|title=Eli Feldstein, Yonatan Urich arrested in 'Qatar-Gate' affair|website=i24NEWS|access-date=2025-04-01}}</ref><ref>{{cite web|author=Ynet|date=2025-03-19|url=https://www.ynetnews.com/article/bko67juhkg|title='Qatargate': Israeli businessman says he transferred money from Qatar lobbyist to Netanyahu spokesperson|website=Ynetnews|access-date=2025-04-01}}</ref>"
Afterwards, this text was added in the body, below the text which I had added in the body:
"He was arrested in March 2025 for suspected involvement in the Qatari connection affair. Netanyahu has described Feldstein and his other aide Jonatan Urich as "being held hostage" following their arrests.<ref>{{cite web|last1=Sharon|first1=Jeremy|last2=Summers|first2=Charlie |date=1 April 2025|url=https://www.timesofisrael.com/netanyahu-says-his-two-aides-being-held-hostage-in-qatargate-witch-hunt/|title=Netanyahu says his two aides ‘being held hostage’ in Qatargate ‘witch hunt’|work=The Times of Israel|access-date=31 March 2025}}</ref>".
1. Netanyahu's description as "being held hostage" is not relevant to Feldstein. It is relevant to Netanyahu or to the Qatari connection affair.
2. The reader has to read three times about the arrest of Feldstein, once in the lead and twice in the body.
3. The Qatari connection affair is duplicated.
4. WP:BLP applies. I see it wrong to write four times in one article about the arrest.
I would be glad to read your replies, Dgw|Talk 05:25, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Dorian Gray Wild The lead is supposed to summarize the most important parts of the main article and in particular to specify why the person is notable. Some duplication is therefore unsurprising. However, the most important policy here is that described at WP:BLPCRIME, which you should read carefully and edit the article accordingly, or comment on its talk page. As this is a contentious topic you should be particularly careful. Mike Turnbull (talk) 13:36, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
The end of the moved text
- As far as your first point, Feldstein is a key figure in the Qatari connection affair, so it's relevant. Plus, Feldstein and Urich worked for Bibi.
- Regarding your second and fourth points, there were two separate arrests (in November 2024 and March 2025) on different charges, so it's not repetitive to discuss it more than once. David O. Johnson (talk) 04:15, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
- Regarding #3, I was not replied why the link Qatari connection affair was written twice. It is not a stand alone link.
- All the five mentions of the arrests (in a red font) deal only with 31 March 2025. Dgw|Talk 18:18, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
