"thank God I have my sight yet - all Nature can " -- should be an em-dash instead of the normal dash, im assuming
Direct quotations can go with a citation, even in the lead
The lead says "Several years later", while the article says "in his late teens", which seems to be a natural contradiction ...
"He kept a diary during his trip," , " During his journey, Bruce kept a diary" -- repetetion
that quotation in the last para of early life needs proper formatting of the ellipsis with nbsp and an em-dash instead of the normal dash, im assuming
"His early portraits ... in the early 1860s." -- needs a citation
"purchased from Bruce by Dr. J. B. McCaw" -- Any specefic reason for specifyting 'Dr.' in the name?
Formatting of dates in the references needs consistency
