What to add
[edit]They should say it sends too many notifications and that it says it is free but will force you to pay. 113.254.69.211 (talk) 09:31, 26 August 2022 (UTC)
- This is your opinion. Do you have a reliable secondary source? סשס Grimmchild 14:48, 28 September 2022 (UTC)
- I can confirm that the Android app issues a system-level notification after the completion of each exercise. It's wackily unnecessary. (What were they thinking?) I'm sure millions of users routinely turn off Notifications before running it. However, the app never "forces you to pay", as the OP claims.

- They literally say their mission is free education for millions - while charging for super Duolingo and Duolingo max - having removed a ton of educational content from the free version in order to only offer it with the paid versions (thus charging money for something which they’ve confirmed the value of as $0.00 and which they literally say in their own mission statement is supposed to be free). This wouldn’t be offensive if they changed their mission statement at the same time that they removed all that free educational content and made it paid-content, but they didn’t. So now their mission statement is just a lie, and they’re the kind of smug buttholes who continue to think highly of themselves even after they removed the educational opportunities from those they set out to help. It wouldn’t look like unapologetic greed if they were upfront about this app not actually being free while also offering the educational services they purport to offer on the free version, and instead just acknowledged that they’re not trying to freely help anyone and this app has always been designed with ‘making money’ as the mission. 2601:642:C500:B8C0:DD77:F9BB:709F:AE25 (talk) 08:13, 24 November 2023 (UTC)
Something official to add
[edit]This is 100% legit:
Duolingo shuts down June 19, 2024 32.220.237.137 (talk) 00:20, 12 May 2024 (UTC)

- And yet, here I am in September 2024, still doing Duo in 5 languages. Wschart (talk) 14:44, 1 September 2024 (UTC)

There are now 45 languages you can learn on Duolingo, no longer 43. As well as common and not so common languages, Duolingo also teaches languages that aren't technically official languages, such as High Valyrian and Klingon. Dmthompson6 (talk) 03:08, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. Charliehdb (talk) 13:39, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
Duolingo for Schools
[edit]I love how the Spanish version of this article has a whole section for Duolingo for Schools, but we only get 1 sentence lightly touching the service. It has a good amount of features that should be used. Hunt4trouble (talk) 02:16, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
- All it states is
- "Duolingo provides features that allow teachers to track their students' progress." Hunt4trouble (talk) 02:19, 17 June 2024 (UTC)

[edit]In the language courses table, mention the Math and Music courses. O7Official (talk) 13:58, 28 January 2025 (UTC)
Funds section
[edit]In the funds section: "Duolingo launched a private beta on November 27, 2011, and accumulated a waiting list of more than 300,000 people. It launched to the general public on June 19, 2012, at which point the waiting list had grown to around 500,000."
Where does the November 27 launch date come from? The articles linked both state November 30 as the launch date of the private beta.
Also, I think this should mention that it accumulated a waiting list of more than 100,000 by December 13, 2011 (the date this article, which brings up the size of the waiting list at the time, was published), rather than 300,000 by no particular date. The 300,000 figure seems pointless to say given that the waiting list is said to have grown to around 500,000 in the next sentence, with an actual date. Plenthy (talk) 13:44, 31 January 2025 (UTC)

Didn't duo die today?
[edit]Why's that not added? It's about his death. GD CoderZkd (talk) 02:22, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
- @GD CoderZkd It's added under the Duolingo#Duolingo's characters section. Strugglehouse (talk) 21:37, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
- I've moved it closer to the top of that section to make it easier for people to find Permareperterra (talk) 06:16, 13 February 2025 (UTC)
