Questionable deletion

[edit]

I just came across this article Andrew Jackson which is very good. It has exactly the same style of referencing. I have no idea why so much text was deleted by User:Volunteer Marek a few days ago. We don't want to die stupid.Taksen (talk) 19:36, 20 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I deleted it because it was WP:COPYVIO. Volunteer Marek 21:58, 20 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You forgot to mention more than ten years ago.Taksen (talk) 08:56, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn’t matter when it was added. The important part is that the text, as it existed at the time I deleted it, was a copyright violation. Volunteer Marek 10:00, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Who said it does not matter, please prove. You cannot delete the whole article on your own. This is against Wikipedia rule. You can delete what is not supported by a reference. Are you a Trump supporter, who passes parliament? This is the only way I can explain your actions.Taksen (talk) 10:18, 1 February 2025 (UTC) You are violating the freedom of press.[reply]
The Wikimedia Foundation said it doesn't matter. Not violating copyright is part of the Terms of Use of this website and all other Wikimedia projects, which take precedence over whatever local policy on sourced and unsourced statements you can think of. I never contributed to this article, but it was on my watchlist. The layout is terrible, and the content is a mess—no surprise that it doesn’t attract many readers. Did the Wikimedia Foundation actually tell you it’s okay to delete the entire article? It needs improvement, not removal.Taksen (talk) 06:45, 2 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It needs removal because the problem is not with the quality of the writing but the fact that it has been copied and pasted from a nonfree source. Read WP:COPYVIO for more. Wilhelm Tell DCCXLVI (talk to me!/my edits) 17:32, 4 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Nivose stopped here ten years ago

[edit]

On the talk page of Insurrection of 31 May – 2 June 1793 user: Volunteer Marek called user:Nivose a nice catch, in my point of view Stasi-practices, at least anti-intellectual. You were so eager and in such a hurry you forgot to put a template, but deleted first; someone else had to do that for you. I do not believe you are an expert on these topics. First of all, his name is Soboul. While he was a Marxist, his publications remain important, as he was among the first to study the Sansculottes in depth. Secondly, as far as I can see, his books are not available online, so a simple copy-paste cannot be the case. Thirdly, the topic Insurrection of 31 May – 2 June 1793, is one of the most complex events of the French Revolution to understand and describe; one author complained about the complexity and many skipped this topic. Fourth, Nivose, who is still the main contributor to this article, stopped working on it at least ten years ago. It seems odd to criticize this user rather than focus on improving the article. Deleting is easier than adding—especially if your French is limited. Fifth, it is possible to condense the text that Nivose added with the help of ChatGPT. It is clear that some passages are too long. I am partially blocked and cannot do anything to improve the main space.

When I started working on Robespierre in 2019, I deleted or shortened much of his text because it was more descriptive than factual. Sixth, even animals copy, that is how we learn, something to keep in mind. Also Bach copied Vivaldi, what will you do to prevent this? One has to start somewhere in the beginning, don't you think? Seventh, unfortunately, all my 22 additions at Insurrection of 31 May – 2 June 1793, many sourced from French materials, have been removed since yesterday. Your actions, including those on the Demonstration of 20 June 1792, Insurrection of 12 Germinal Year III and Revolt of 1 Prairial Year III article, are questionable—all the references have been removed. I don’t think such major changes, with such significant consequences, should be made unilaterally. Lastly, as Voltaire wrote, we don’t want to die stupid.Taksen (talk) 07:00, 30 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

When DeepSeek was asked about the events on Tiananmen Square, it did not give a reply. Are you introducing this practise also on Wikipedia?Taksen (talk) 08:00, 30 January 2025 (UTC) Actually you don't care that there is such a similarity with Chinese, Cheka or KGB policy. Someone should stop or block you, deleting bluntly. It is allowed to delete unreferenced information, which means the opposite, deleting referenced information or the whole article, is not allowed.Taksen (talk) 08:53, 1 February 2025 (UTC)Taksen (talk) 04:29, 3 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
