This article should adhere to the gender identity guideline because it contains material about one or more non-binary people. Precedence should be given to self-designation as reported in the most up-to-date reliable sources, anywhere in article space, even when it doesn't match what's most common in reliable sources. Any person whose gender might be questioned should be referred to by the pronouns, possessive adjectives, and gendered nouns (for example "man/woman", "waiter/waitress", "chairman/chairwoman") that reflect that person's latest expressed gender self-identification. Many, but not all, non-binary people go by singular they pronouns, which are acceptable for use in articles. This applies in references to any phase of that person's life, unless the subject has indicated a preference otherwise. Former, pre-transition names may only be included if the person was notable while using the name; outside of the main biographical article, such names should only appear once, in a footnote or parentheses. If material violating this guideline is repeatedly inserted, or if there are other related issues, please report the issue to the LGBTQ+ WikiProject, or, in the case of living people, to the BLP noticeboard. |
While the biographies of living persons policy does not apply directly to the subject of this article, it may contain material that relates to living persons, such as friends and family of persons no longer living, or living persons involved in the subject matter. Unsourced or poorly sourced contentious material about living persons must be removed immediately. If such material is re-inserted repeatedly, or if there are other concerns related to this policy, please see this noticeboard. |

Which bathroom should the subject used?
[edit]Understand they were non-binary, but as the state insists that people use the bathroom of their birth sex, what birth sex was Nex? It is not listed anywhere in the article, and this is needed to be stated so people can see if Nex was using the bathroom the state law says or not? 2A00:23C4:241:8C01:154F:D402:E3A0:D7E8 (talk) 11:52, 26 July 2024 (UTC)

Please title the page "Nex Benedict" and remove "the death of "
This section in the second paragraph can match the first paragraph to avoid the redundancy in both paragraphs: "On February 7, 2024, Benedict was involved in a physical altercation in the girls' restroom at Owasso High School. The following day, Benedict collapsed in their living room and was later pronounced dead." Mention the highschool name in the first paragraph.
Add "some suspect the hospital did not provide the proper care for Nex's identity, and thus prevented them/him from getting the dignity and care they deserved."
"Nex had stopped breathing by the time emergency medical technicians arrived, and was declared dead at the hospital that evening.[6]" There is speculation that this reporting is misinformation based on the anti-trans ideology of the officials involved with Nex's death. - Unfortunately, Wikipedia policy prevents these changes. WP:BLP1E states that if this article is about Nex themselves, they would need to be WP:NOTABLE for more than 1 event. (Not that Nex is not important, just that Wikipedia has a very specific definition of Notable). Their death and the conversation around it is the only thing folks from Wikipedia would accept as notable, as per Wikipedia policy.
- We need reliable sourcing for the other changes, and using "some suspect" is prohibited by WP:SOME.
- WP:LEDE suggests being short and succinct. I have no clue if it makes sense to include the highschool name. Bluethricecreamman (talk) 01:00, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
Weasel
[edit](edit conflict) [1] "physical altercation" is a weaselword, and it is important to mention that they lost consciousness, which indicates how serious the fight was, and explains why people believe(d) there was a causal link with their death. Polygnotus (talk) 20:39, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
- Assuming I am the B, will you do the R so that we can D? Or maybe we can just discuss it? Polygnotus (talk) 20:42, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
- I just noticed that the first sentence of the LEAD has the same problem, it may be possible to combine em. Polygnotus (talk) 20:44, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
