Galesville/Gale-Ettrick Consolidation

[edit]

Occurred in 1949: https://www.newspapers.com/image/511196779/?match=1&terms=galesville%20ettrick%20consolidation

Prior to this consolidation, the school colors for Galesville were purple and gold: https://www.newspapers.com/image/511285313/?match=1&terms=galesville%20%22purple%20and%20gold%22 Badgeractuary (talk) 20:23, 15 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

This also presumes they were not called the "Redmen" either, but I don't see a record of school nickname. Likely wasn't one Badgeractuary (talk) 20:29, 15 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Is there anything else that corroborates Galesville's colors being purple and gold? There was a mention of them being class colors which gives me a bit of pause. Moserjames79 (talk) 14:06, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Never mind, found something from 1917 confirming Galesville's pre-merger colors: Mar 12, 1917, page 8 - The La Crosse Tribune at Newspapers.com Moserjames79 (talk) 14:08, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Also found an article from 1937 saying that their symbol was an arrowhead, makes me wonder if they were the Indians or Warriors (or something similar) May 18, 1937, page 15 - The La Crosse Tribune at Newspapers.com Moserjames79 (talk) 14:09, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That I couldn't tell. I've generally found very little on most school nicknames pre-1950. Some kind of Indian/Warrior would make sense, though. Badgeractuary (talk) 14:33, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I saw a few possibilities, but most likely the Gales. See example here: https://www.newspapers.com/image/272749635/?match=1&terms=galesville%20gales Badgeractuary (talk) 14:43, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
