Not a U-2D
[edit]The U-2 that Mike Hua landed at Cortez was a U-2A, not a U-2D. There was no such thing as U-2D in August 1959. The airframe he flew is indeed on exhibit at Blackbird Airpark, in Palmdale, California, as a U-2D, but it was modified into this model configuration well after Hua flew it.173.62.108.108 (talk) 04:17, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
- I have moved the following from the article page, because I'm unable to find source(s) for:
The aircraft in question, a U-2D, serial number 56-6721, is on display at Blackbird Airpark, adjacent to USAF Plant 42 at Palmdale, California. Major Hua was later awarded the U.S. Air Force Distinguished Flying Cross for his successful landing of the secret aircraft.
- There's a source that said the U-2D is at Palmdale, but not that it's the plane Mike Hua flew.
- There's a source that said that Hua was awarded the Flying Distinguished Cross - but no mention of the Cortez landing.
- Is there a reliable, published source (not scrapbook-type clippings) for this info?--CaroleHenson (talk) 20:50, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
