Max Weber provides some definitions of "corporate group" in his writings, including this one from Basic Concepts in Sociology:

"The term "corporate group" will be reserved for a social relation ship which is either closed to outsiders or restricts their admis sion by regulations, and whose authority is enforced by the actions of specific individuals charged with this function, for example, a chief or head and usually also an administrative staff. These functionaries normally will also exercise plenary powers. The incumbency of an executive position or the participation in the functions of the administrative staff constitute "governing authority" and can either be appropriated or may be delegated in accordance with the binding rules of the association as laid down in specific criteria or procedures; such delegation may be permanent, for a term, or in order to deal with an emergency situation. "Corporate behavior" is either that of the administra tive staff, which by virtue of its governing authority or posses sion of plenary powers is oriented to executing the terms of its authority, or it is the behavior of the members as directed by the administrative staff."

Not sure how to integrate that into the article, but I figured I'd paste it here in case anyone else finds it useful. --Jonovision (talk) 22:28, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
